ok, what's the sentence?

"No one saw him." Thanks for asking! You didn't ask for the name of the story so I'll assume you might still want to figure that one out.

Just a note—if this is 2003, the Trump Tower isn’t even built. They started construction in 2005 and finished in early 2009. That gaudy sign (which totally ruins a beautiful building) was put up in 2013. So, just saying, if this is 2003, Steve would not see that building in his walk up Wabash.

I had the same thought. Trump tower was still being finished when I had my first field sales job selling construction equipment in the loop the summer of 2008. Something tells me our author knows this detail and may intentionally be juxtaposing dates for some sort of post-modern art trick!

No fancy postmodern stuff here! Faulty and flighty human memory is ancient as the hills. Still, the Corrections section will be pretty short. Trump Tower's true construction year will be first on the list, though. If you're interested in that site, don't forget to check out Chapter Two Notes: Trump Tower, the Sun-Times Building, Cheese and Hogs.

That's exactly what I told Steve. Plus the "TRUMP" sign went up even a few years after the building was built. But, as I mentioned in Chapter One, memory is a funny thing. While I've striven to get everything just right even for a New Yorker fact checker, I did run up against memory. So, as Chapter One stipulates, I did let a few discrepancies slide in order to tell the story the way people saw it at the time. To atone, these few points will be listed in a brief Corrections section at the end. But thank you for noticing--I hope readers will point out any discrepancy they see, in case it's something I didn't catch and plan to cover in Corrections.

Clearly I watched too many NFL Films for research. You need a comma after the word "clearly".

Hmm, I’m thinking this is a style choice, but 1) I so appreciate the input, and hope you’ll point out anything else you notice, and 2) I’ll seriously consider adding the comma. Thank you!
